I think there is a short in the power switch on my new comp.
I have a D975XBX2 in a lian li a10b case and ocasionally when I touch the case the computer restarts. I thought it was the mother board but I thought I would try testing out the power reset buttons first. This is what I did. I turned the computer on then touched the side and the computer restarted I then unplugged the power and reset switch from the computer wile it was still running. I then tried touching the computer to get it to restart, nothing. I then plugged the power and reset switch back in and as soon as i put the side panel on the computer restarted. This makes me think that static electricity might be traveling through the case to the switch. Does that make any sense? What can I do about it? By the way Im kind of a newb.

Not sure if this is the cause, but are you using a grounded outlet for the power source (3 prongs)? I've seen ungrounded (2 prong) outlets cause all kinds of gremlins on electrical components before.

There could be a short associated with the screws used to hold the mobo to inside of case. I used the wrong screws one time included with case and I couldn't get comp to start, the power would short out immediately.
Electricity can do weird things with computers. One time I was measuring with a metal ruler inside my case with comp on (not that smart, I know, but I wanted to see if the new heatsink would fit, haha) and the ruler was about 1/2 inch away from the area betwee the ram & processor. I saw a white flash, felt a big shock, and heard the computer restart. I had grounded out the computer without even touching it.
