New bios and overclock D957xbx2

Post by rwolds9 »

This is my first post to this forum. I recently built my first system and with all the information from this forum was able to overclock my E6400 processor to 2.6 at stock voltages. The system is stable and I'm content with its performance. My question is if I elect to flash the new bios, do I need to set everything back to default before doing so?
Also, I have disabled watchdog and CIE in the maintenance menu. Will these setting remain or will flashing the bios revert those back to default. I'ld like to know whether I need to crack open the case again after changing the bios.
Thanks in advance.

save your current settings as custom defaults, it's a exit menu option.

I didn't realize that was an option. I'm at work now and the computer is at home. If I understand correctly, this will keep my memory timings and FSB settings. The only changes I've made were resetting the PC 800 memory to 533 mhz and resetting the FSB from 266 to 325. Of course it never worked until watchdog and C1E were disabled.
