D975XBX2 Power Question

Post by Robert Barnett »

I have this motherboard in an Antec Nine Hundred case with one of the Antec TruePower 650 power supplies. The motherboard seems to have three different power connectors. Do I need to hook all three up? It seems the manual that came with the motherboard indicates that I need to but I want to make sure. The MB will be used with a Core2 Duo processor and an ATI Radeon 1650 Pro Express video card.

So there is the large 12 pin one, then the 8 pin or is it 6 pin? and then a 4 pin which is one of the regular power supply connectors that one would use for like and IDE hard drive or CD-ROM drive?

Just want to make sure about the 4 pin being a regular power connector.

Thanks,

Robert

The molex one (labeled 'L' in mobo manual page 14) is described as 'Auxiliary PCI Express Graphics Power Connector (optional)'. On page 63 of Intel manual it states that it is to be used if running a video card 75w or greater. I overlooked this and just connected it last night. My system has been running for about a month now without it and has been stable. My video card is a 7950GT KO. Feel better now though with it plugged in.
