PC will not start

Post by DarkSpawn »

I built a new pc and can not get it to start up when I press the power button. thecase fans and cpu fan spin for half a sec then stop. I’ve tried switching the psu with one I know works and still nothing they both light up a LED next to the 2 * 12 plug on my Intel BOXD975XBX2KR.

So I think the problems the CPU or the motherboard, could a defective CPU stop the system fans spinning and with a bad cpu would the system beep.

also if i only have my psu connected to the Motherboard no cpu, ram and just a case fan want would happen e.g. would it beep or just not start

Try goint through the checklist in the manual for the board. It has a full step-by-step guide to finding what the problem is.

EDIT: Just looked through my manual - it's not there, my mistake. Its actually a poster-type paper that comes in the box, if you bought it retail.

Did you only use 10 mounting post and screws ?
Are you using the stock heatsink/fan ?

If worst comes to worst try taking the motherboard out of the case and
wiring up the powersupply to it - maybe you have a short somewhere.

Intel says 3 longs beeps, 1280 Hz, means memory error.
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboar ... 025434.htm

With motherboard out of the case.
Install one stick or all of your memory.
Install graphics card .
Wire up you monitor to graphics card.

If all goes well then atach hard drive and Opical drive.

good luck
