Strange Happenings with New System...
Well, I finally got everything together. However, now when I boot up the new system I get a black screen with a BA at the bottom right of the screen. The system hangs here for 20 to 30 seconds and then Windows starts to load.
Any ideas?
Intel D975XBX2 Motherboard
Core2 Duo Processor
2 GB of RAM
It didn't do this from the start. It just all of a sudden started showing the BA.
Thanks,
Robert

BA means that the board is hanging when it is detecting the presence of a removable media (IDE, CD-ROM detection, etc.)... I highly suggest removing all optical drives, flash drives, and other things and see if the system can post.
I sometimes get this code when I forget to unplug my flash drive or have a memory card in the flash reader. Have you added anything to your PC lately?

you're not going to want to hear this, but unplug everything except for the primary hard drives and see what happes.
Here are a bunch of Intel Port 80h Post Codes that you will need to figure out what is going on: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboar ... 025434.htm
Sorry to hear of the problems... been there done that and it SUCKS

I did
I did that and I think it is the external Liteon drive. I knew there was a reason I always went with plextor.

Same setup here Robert, Disable Legacy USB in the BIOS, that should fix you up. ;)

Legacy USB
Want that affect being able to use the mouse and keyboard should I need it when not in Windows? Will this fix the problem with the LiteOn Drive? Because it is this drive that causes the problem?
Thanks,
Robert

Was at work Rob, sorry for the delay. Yes, it seems to cure the hang on boot problem for me. I'm not sure about the keyboard but my mouse is a wireless USB trackball made by logitech, and I see no problems with it.
My DVD burner is an external Liteon with "EZ-DUB. Model, SHW-160P65.
My keyboard is a PS/2 Microsoft Natural (the BIOS has it's own problems with PS/2)
Hope this helps.
Edit: opps I almost forgot, yes this will prevent DOS operation of USB (I believe). It will also disable your ability to launch windows setup, hoever just re enable those things as required. Although you will have to wait through the "Hang Time" (that used to be a good thing), before continuing with your OS load.
Count yourself blessed, my comp hangs for as much as 4 minuites before loading the OS.

Interesting...
While my cercumstances are a little different (external USB DVD drive, Plextor works fine, LiteOn causes the problem). I am having a problem with my Microsoft USB keyboard. When I boot up the first time in to Windows Vista the keyboard doesn't work. If I reboot then it works. I have updated to the latest bios so hopefully Intel will fix these problems. Though after all of these years with most of this technology out for sometime I am surprised that they can't get this right the first time.
Thanks for the info.

I have Auto Drive configuration, but sometimes get Hang on BA code.
I do have a lite-on DVD burner. Maybe I need a different DVD/CD as the boot device ? I have noticed it Hang beep on some Floppy(s) before. Might just be some old bad disks
Moving the hard drive to the first boot device helps.
Thanks!
