New BIOS 2747 for XBX2 is out. Just flashed my mobo and it was successful.

Same result. Where 2745 did not work properly, this bios, 2747 for the D975XBX2 now works with ECC memory.
For reference, I'm at:
5-5-5-15, DDR2 800 ECC, 1.8V 4GB in 4 sticks, Vista 32 (3.25GB visible in 32bit mode)

2747 works here for ecc.
also, 3d performance is still good.
