HI:

When I built my first system D975XBX2, i did have a similar issue probably the same.

When I hook up the 12 V connector 2x4 2x2 I did plug it in reverse and the motherboard don't start. Verify if you did plug it the right way. My connector adapter could go two ways.... see page 69 and 70 of the product guide.

Tell me if it work

Did you plug the 6 pin connector from the PSU on the 8800 GTS? I believe you don't need to plug in the 1x4 connector (molex) to the motherboard if you are using a 24 pin connector instead of a 20 pin connector. I don't have the 1x4 connector plugged in, only the 8 pin and 24 pin motherboard connectors plus the 6 pin dedicated video connector to my 8800 GTS and everything works fine.

could it be possible for me not to have a compatible ram.. or would that cause the motherboard not to power at all?

Video card fully seated? Try (with PSU unplugged) re-seating the card and make sure the retention clip is locked in place. Any error beeps?

Have you plugged in the 8 pin power connector at the top of the board?

Your RAM should run at its rated speed at 1.8v.

Generally with bad RAM, you should be able to at least get through the POST or into the BIOS before it breaks.

Do you have a different graphics card that you can test the board with?

Have you tried the graphics card in the other PCIe slot.

Mine did the same thing as yours but I forgot to set my monitor to digital, it was still set to Analog. When I finally found where the setting was on the new monitor it came to life.
