GA-P35-DS3L doesn't boot

Post by Zertz »

Hi,

I got this mobo with a E4400, Crucial RAM, 8600GTS and a 500W EarthWatts Antec PSU. I build it, boots up fine, install Vista, drivers and finally... update the BIOS. After a ''succesful'' update, I reboot, but all I get is a long beep and a black screen. Nothing was changed between the BIOS update and reboot.

I tried resseting the CMOS, removing the battery (for about 8 hours), took it out of the case, triple checked everything. I also tried taking out the RAM, video card and HDD, so basically only the CPU and power left and I still get the same long beep. I don't have another 775 CPU to test.

I'm not sure what to do next, any help would be nice!

Thanks.

Check the last pages of your manual. It has the beep codes.
Mine (p35-ds3) says continuous long beeps = Graphics card not inserted properly.

Yeah I checked but it doesn't say anything about a single long beep. I tried so many things... Might end up in a RMA.

Video card works fine in my other computer and I quad-checked everything on the new motherboard without any sucess.

Sounds like an RMA is in order. Maybe the update wasn't successful afterall. :?

Sent a RMA request, hopefully they'll prompty replace it, I don't feel like screwing around... I like how they feature that crash free BIOS protection and recovery!

Yeah the virtual dual bios doesnt always work. Thats how my old board got rma'd. If the bios update fails when the boot sector is erased/written then the board is dead... Otherwise supposingly you should be able to save it with a floppy/cd or usb. But the manual doesn't say anything about recovering the Bios... I mean he could try to put the motherboard cd in the drive, but you are supposed to press a shortcut on boot and know what to do, since usually in these cases you have to do everything "blind"
Anyway, i believe he should rma it too
