resetting bios (ASUS in my sig)

Post by stopthekilling77 »

okay so i was talking on the phone and overclocking (there should be a PSA about not doing that #-o ) and i set my frequency a *tad* too aggressive and i'm not posting. my motherboard is listed in my sig, and i'm just double checking the prodedure to reset it.

1. turn off PSU, unplug from wall
2. remove CMOS battery for a few seconds
3. reinstall battery, plug in, turn on

should that take care of it? i'm angry at my manual cause it has EVERYthing about bios stuff EXCEPT how to reset....

thanks guys!

No need, you have an Asus board :)

Power up as normal, then just before you would expect the bios screen to display, power off again via the PSU switch, or unplug if you have to.
The bios will detect the failed boot and when you start again, it will boot with default settings.
You will get a message "Overclocking failed, press F1 to enter BIOS, or F2 to continue"

Press F1, to get back into the bios and just change the last setting back to where it was ;)

Page 21
1. turn off and unplug
2. at CLRTC jumper (near bios chip, low right) move from pins 1-2 (default) to pins 2-3
3. plug in, turn on
4. hold DEL key during the boot process, enter BIOS setup re-enter data.
