Greetings all,
I have an 975XBX with 2 gigs of RAM and an ATI Radeon x1900 vid card. PS is 600w
The problem began with a bsod and loss of all the start up drivers for win xpsp2. After a few attempts in repair mode I reformatted and reinstalled. Everything ran fine for about a week and Bsod popped up with a bad connection in the wire from HD to MB. I replaced the wire and rebooted fine.
I got another BSOD, X00000007X. System then can not load the OS. Whats odd is if I move the wire to another slot the system boots normal.
Now the computer runs fine until I put a stress on it (ie) even a defrag.
I ran memory test and have no appparent stick problems.
The only oddity is on the reinstall I did not get the sound to work.
I called intel and to be honest, I could hardly understand the guy. He ran through his checklist and for some reason said it was probably my floppy drive which I disabled. Yes I new I was in trouble then.
Does anybody have a clue as to what direction I should start looking.
Thank you

Re: 975xbx Headache
You have tried different SATS cables and slots?
Re: 975xbx Headache
Changed cable and slot. I have to change to a different slot everytime I want to boot the thing.
Once a BSOD appears the OS can't find drivers to load unless I change sata slot and then os loads normally. OS runs fine as long as I dont put stress on it.
I went into safe mode and deleted most of my fluff programs and games. If I try to delete programs while in normal mode I get a bsod usually with a kernel error.
