NB Strap on a 680i Mobo?

ive been overclocking my g0 q6600 on my abit in932x max mobo, and ive been having a little trouble. the thing is, if i try to adjust my fsb to 1333 running with unlinked or linked mem, i get post codes that translate to: "detect memory -auto detection of dram size, type and ecc -auto detection of l2 cache (socket 7 or below)" or "1. Program MTRR of M1 CPU 2.Initialize l2 cache for p6 class cpu and program cpu with proper cacheable range 3. Initialize the apic for p6 class cpu 4. on the mp platform, adjust the cacheable range to smaller one in case the the cacheable ranges between each cpu are not identical"
but when i set my nb strap to 1333 it works fine. but with the strap at 1333 i cant go any higher then 1333 fsb. Any sugestions? My ram is currently running at 5-4-4-10 900 mhz 2.1v, but to oc ive relaxed it back to stock

Try lowering the "SPP<->MCP Ref Clock" in the BIOS. I don't have a 680i board, but this might be increasing when you're overclocking and going out of spec. (This is the link speed between the chip sets)

Another option is to increase the CPU VTT voltage, as this is an important setting for a high fsb.

There's also the "FSB Hole" issue with the Nvidia based boards, some boards won't boot at certain speeds.....normally between 400 & 450MHz. I don't know if this is fixed now or not

well i checked the manufactuers support forum and i downloaded the lateset beta bios for my board. that fixed the nb strap issue, but it doesnt change the fact that according to my and others experiences, this board & chipset just plain suck at ocing quads. i knew i shoulda got the p5b deluxe i was able to post at 1425 fsb (quad pumped) or 3.2 gigs, but it needed 1.5 volts on the procesor, and the cpu vtt, nb, sb, and hyper transport to be maxed out on voltages. and even then it wouldn't boot xp or vista. talk about a waste of good water cooling so im sticking with my 3 gig oc until i can save up for a p-35 board (which will be quite a while)
