D975XBX2 no array defined

Post by geo »

Hi guys, i am new to this board and i'd like to get some help. I was reading a post, but since it was too long and it veered off course, i wanted to start one from scratch.

Here is what the story is:

I got this board a few monts ago but since i was happy with the current setup, i did not try to install it until last night.

I purchased 2G Crucial Ballistic 6400 RAM, Zerotherm heat sink for the Quad Core CPU. Everything else is from the previous PC - IDE Drives & CD ROM, XP already loaded, keyboard, mouse, etc, etc.

First the main problem. The power button does not work (secondary problem) and i start it up from the main power button on the board itself. When i fire it up, the first black screen it says:
"Marvell 88SE61xx Controller - BIOS Version 1.1.0.17

Adaptor 1

Arrays Information:
No Array is defined!

Disk Information:
No Hard Disk is defined!

Press <Ctrl> + <M> to enter Marvel RAID BIOS Configuration or Press <Space> to Continue"

If i do NOT do anything, the XP screen comes up as if is about to start. Then the blue screen of death comes up. I hit the power button on the motherboard, tweak the bios settings, but no luck with any of the 4 problems - Array undefined, HDD not found, Power button (i know it's not on the BIOS), and blue screen.

I am familiar with the Intel site and BIOS updates and stuff, but i can not (dont know how) to update the BIOS if i can not get to the WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!! ](*,) ](*,)

please help. I am in a pinch because it is my business computer.

thank you so much in advance. :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:

ok, i went into "hardware" i think and i set the secondary SATA to "disable". that fixed the "No Array is defined" and "No Hard Disk is defined" after reading and digging info for over 4 hrs.

Then i connected my IDE HD and IDE CD-ROM in series, put my XP in the CD-ROM and fired it.

The error i get now is :

Client Mac Addr: blah, blah.... three dots, a spinning cursor. Then it says, No Boot Filename Received".

now, in my boot menu, here is what i have:
Type - normal
Device Priority - CD/DVD; HDD
HDDriver - the type of HDD i have
CD/DVD - no optical drive
boot to optical devices - enable
boot to removable - disable
boot to network - disable
USB boot - disable
ZIP-Floppy
Boot USB Device first - Disabled
Mass storage - Auto

could you please help me understand what is going on? the errors are gone, but i can't boot up from the CD.

I was able to insert the CD in the CD-ROM and it is spinning.

ok, since i have not built a new system since 2003, dont laugh.

it could not recognize the CDROM because it was set to master (since it was just one, get it?).

i had no idea that if it's one IDE cable, it must be slave. it's counter intuitive.

so, now i am installing XP and hope to update the BIOS asap.

will let you know. i am so proud of my sherlock skills. :supz:

Hi,
Win XP Pro Service pack 2

I just installed this MB and CPU 2 core quad and had pretty much the same issues as you. Turns out you must do a clean install of win XP, I tried just migrating my hdd from my previeous system and load the new mb drivers, and I had issues.
It wouldn't do a warm boot and it wouldn't shut down it would just show the windows logo "it is safe to turn off your computer now"

So I did a clean install and installed the latest biosd and latest Mavel Raid driver and most every thing worked except:

My "red" sata on the mb for the extrenal SATA Hard drive wont see my external hdd. I called Intel support and was told that this is a known issue and the engineers are working on a patch for the Marvel Raid.

Bottom line my pc runs fine if I disable the secondary SATA " I am using USB 2 on my eaternal HDD now"

Oh yeah my hdd led light wont light and my power on led wont light up and my USB 1 in the front wont recognize a usb device.

I don't think I'll hold my breath for a Marvel fix.

Later
Peace is in the mind, not the situation...unless you're in a firefight.
