i think ill grab one of http://canadacomputers.com/main.php?do= ... cid=FN.806

and another pair of ballistix, does the version with leds make any difference? and since the ram cooler is going to be covering them wouldnt it be wiser to get the non led version which should produce less heat?

this is just insane, i was about to go to bed and i said what the heck ill try them one more time, so i repeat the exact same thing i did at least 25 times before (which all gave me nada) and it worked, but now if i even change one setting in bios it wont post ... this doesnt really make sense to me

Clear your CMOS and reset all of the values manually. Sometimes you need to start fresh!

after trying that, nothing really has changed :-(, it will boot with both ram sticks in, but it wont boot with only ram stick #2, will only boot if ram stick #1 is in the 1st white slot and ram stick #2 is in the 2nd white slot, no other set up seems to wanna post, also i cant change any settings in bios, as soon as i press enter for accept/save the power gets cut off and then it wont post until i restart and it gives me oc error.hmmm in hardware monitor it says my SB voltage is @ 1.216v which is the maximum it can be set in bios (unless u pick that option that lets you put it to 1.5v) but is this normal for it to be so high? and it says my dram voltage is @ 1.9v and the cpu voltage was somewhere like 1.29v

Are you using the LCD poster? What is it saying? You prolly need to up the vDimm to 2.1v. I'm not sure what the normal voltage is offhand for the SB but that seems high if it is the max. There have been several people say that they have had more luck with the white slots so that may be your case as well.

Also try set "DRAM Static Read Control" is set to "Disabled" and "Load Line Calibration" to "Enabled"

well its working now, dunno how stable it is ( i cracked open the window and my pc is pretty much frozen (temp wise :) but if i enable transaction booster even at stock settings it wont post, not sure why because it worked fine before but now it doesnt want to, and ill try the stuff you said ken, it seems that if i have both sticks in, then log in and use windows for a while, and then try to oc it works..? when i tried to put the 2nd stick in it wouldnt work no matter what, then i logged into windows with 1stick and used the comp for about an hour, shut down and tried again and it worked.

im jw, what affect does the multiplier have on ocing? if i used a cpu with a 10x multiplier would i be able to get the 500ish fsb im getting now?

If you have a 10x multi and the FSB at 500, in theory your CPU will be 5GHz

multi x fsb = CPU Speed!
In general, the higher the multi is, the lower you need the fsb & vice versa. Most people lower the multi and increase the FSB when overclocking.
Fo my setup I had the choice of either 426MHz FSB & 9x multi or 480MHz FSB & 8x multi --> They both give the same CPU speed, but 480MHz FSB gives better performance overall.

Whether enabled or disabled it is still "on". Enable increases and disable relaxes. Try disable at setting 1

the mobo booklet doesnt really say anything about the cpu pll hmmm, also do you think its the mobo or the psu thats causing the weird voltages, half of my voltages are wayyy under what i set them ( eg cpu voltage) and stuff like NB and DRAM voltages are way up? do you experience this too

I'd update now. The stock BIOS is very buggy and may explain the issues you are having. I am very happy so far with 0903. Some people are complaining about temp readings in 0907 even though that one was supposed to make them more accurate.
http://support.asus.com/download/downlo ... %20Formula

After flashing I would do the following:
>Clear CMOS
>Boot with everything on auto (if possible)
>enter in your desired settings.
Do not use a previous profile setting.
