Hi,
Tried the procees as descibed but I got BSOD! but thankfully that acronis image really put me back together :) (great facility).
I dont think I will get anywhere soon with my setup.
Interstingly I think I might try a raid ready possible setup :ANAL:
Maybe if I reload xp but using the f6 option I might then get raid/sata :ANAL: or are there other possibilities :?
Stuart.

I think if you are up for a reload then that would be worth a try. To go RAID (in RAID mode) you'll have to set up the drive as RAID even if it's just one drive (I think, haven't been there yet so I won't be much help).

But a clean install with RAID enabled from the get-go with the F6 method should work.

Try this linkage, maybe it will be helpful;

EDIT - Note in the second link the WARNING from Intel about switching SATA modes after installing... Worked for me but I was probably lucky :)

OK,
I tried a fresh install of xp using the f6 option.
I had already enabled "raid" in the bios advanced drive config.
Loaded the "raid" drivers which are the latest from intel website
and got BSOD!!! :x After loading them again and selecting "ide" in bios the thing loads but does not register the raid drivers!! :(
I noticed at the very start of the post the system still seems to refer to "Marvel" checking!!! :? I have the secondary sata disabled so how is it that this board only seems to recognise ide and runs marvel no sign of intel drivers?
Do I have the sata plugs to the board correct- - using the black SATA headers shown as 3.0-gigbit/s serial ata connectors 0,1,2, and 3 (black) in the manual? :cry: any ideas appreciated.
Stuart. ps back to regular ide with acronis :lol:

Yes, those are the correct connectors. Does the "press CTRL+I" screen come up during boot with the "Configure SATA as" set to RAID? I think you may actually have to define the HDD as a volume even if it's just one disk but I could be way off base so take that with a chunk of salt :).

It's odd that the Marvel still shows up at boot with secondary SATA disabled? Mine is definitely not there.

My "Drive Configuration" BIOS settings;

"Use Automatic Mode" = Disabled
"Use SATA" = Enabled
"ATA/IDE Mode" = Native
"Configure SATA" = AHCI (should be RAID in your case)
S.M.A.R.T = Enabled

The Raptor should be on port 0. I noticed that if I change any settings the boot order changes on me and my boot drive is on port 1 and I have a second, non-bootable drive on port 0. This causes the occasional "NTLDR not found message" I need to switch it around at some point.

No I just get the reference to marvel :?
Might this have something to do with the cd/dvd sata?
I noticed it was set to boot before the hd- so Ive moved it to second place :|
I sent a query to Intel also as I followed the install as referred to in the manual but its only going with this ide setting :roll:
Thanks again.

I also noticed on the intel trouble shoot board this :
"Ctrl-I Option to Open RAID Configuration Utility Does Not Appear
After configuring the BIOS for Intel Matrix Storage Technology, upon reboot you will see the Intel® Application Accelerator RAID Option ROM status message on the screen: Press <CTRL-I> to enter RAID Configuration Utility."

- - - Which doesnt happen for me ---and

"Note: If you are in AHCI mode or have only a single SATA hard drive installed, the Option ROM will not load and you will not be able to enter the RAID Configuration Utility."- - -

So I dont quite know where to go here :?
Hopefully Intel will get back to me with some advice from my escalated email :roll:

Ok then it's not supposed to come up with only the single Raptor attached, my bad...

However with the secondary SATA disabled the Marvel controller BIOS screen should not come up during post.

What BIOS version are you using again?
