I get to the store. That board is an ati chipset. They told me it wouldnt work.

I spent the extra money and bought the EVGA nForce 680i SLI board. I am on it now. It shuold be fully compatable with my nvidia card.

They said the reason that the system had problems was that the intel chipset works best with the ATI video cards. Which kinda makes sense since i got the error message from windows after it crashed telling me it was from a driver but didnt know which one.

I am going to start benchmarking now and it is overclocked right off the bat. with no issues loading windows...yet

will post new results in a new topic since the motherboard has changed, and will put the topic link here for those of you that are following.
EVGA nForce 680i SLI board, XFX GeForce 7950GT@641/1244, Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 (4-4-4-12) 2.1v, Core 2 Duo E6400 (3.0ghz) at 56c max stock cooling, 2 Seagate Barracuda sata 3.0gb 320gb not raid yet and 550watts

old board at 3.2 stock videocard settings / new board at 3.0 oc video card / 3.2 & oc video card

The shop was talking crap........Nvidia cards work fine with Intel & ATI works fine on Nvidia chipsets too!

Make sure you update the Bios on that board!

There's a known problem with Audio (fixed in frist bios patch), and there's possible problems with data corruption (again fixed in latest bios update)

We'd love to see benchmark No.s for comparison, Also have you got a camera? We wanna see pics

Happy Christmas BTW :drinkers:

Have installed the bios update for the data corruption. The new bios date is 12/21/06 or something like that.

Hmm the guy at the store said the nvidia card will not work on the ati chipset board. I havent read anything but if i find he lied to me I should go kick his ass.. but why bother the board was only 15 dollars more then the one i wanted and it supports the quad core. It seems about the same but, I havent spent any time cranking on it. I have lots of pictures just dont have my server running :( will get it on soon and add the pictures.

That guy didn't know what he was talking about... You can run an ATI/NVIDIA card on Intel/SIS/VIA chipsets not to mention you can run an ATI graphics card on NVIDIA chipsets and NVIDIA graphics cards on ATI chipsets...

probably meant ATI Crossfire in an NVIDIA board, but still misinformed to say the least.
