D975XBX2 BIOS freezes up...UPDATE: *Fixed*

I'm fairly new to overclocking and I did not build my system myself so please try to bear with me...

I'm running the E6600 on a D975XBX2 with 4 Gigs of 800 Mhz AmpX memory, a Zalman HSF, a 150GB system HD, a 300GB removable HD, 4 250GB HDs that were setup in a RAID0 configuration, and a GeForce 7300GS Video card. The BIOS version was 2330 when it was last functioning.

My system was working great before I tried setting the FSB too high and my system would not boot, so I tried going into the BIOS and resetting everything and I could not even get back into the BIOS after that. I then took out the battery to clear the settings and when I put the battery back in and went into the BIOS to setup everything it just freezes up once I get into the BIOS setup!! I have tried just about everything I know to do. I tried all of the jumper settings, the BIOS update/recovery procedures, and just about everything else I could think of and nothing seems to work. It always ends up freezing/locking up soon after powering up and going into the BIOS. It even does the same thing partly through the BIOS update procedure using the .ISO file booting from a CD-ROM!! If anyone can give me any advice on this that would be cool...

looks like you havent fully cleared the cmos, try this:

disconnect your pc power cable, remove cmos battery leave for a while and try again!

**u can also try holding the power button on for a while(while power cord is disconnected) to drain the last power out of the board

*than when you get back into bios load defaults*

hope this helps

Actually, I had it unplugged and without the battery installed for like 2 months!!! I just started to attempt to get it going again after my last failed try way back then...

WOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!! :)

I figured out my problem! My dumb ass had somehow knocked loose one of the molex connectors to one of the hard drives while I was routing around in there messing with the jumper!!! I assume that's what was causing it to hang up in the BIOS? :? ...Now to try updating to a newer BIOS version. I hopefully will be succesful with that! Any suggestions on which BIOS version to go with? should I try the latest version first?

Thanks to everyone who read my post and especially to smokin_mitch for your reply!!

2770 works over here. before this, there was a lot of issues with add in cards and ECC memory not working and a bunch of other things.

2770 to me represents the first non-Beta bios yet.

Oh cool! 8) I didn't know there was a new one already. They seem to release new BIOS versions pretty quickly. When I get time, I'll try 2770 out myself and report back...

Thanks mickrussom!!
