"Convert to Recovery Volume" right click option not availabl

D975XBX2 board, running RAID 1 on 4x drives (2 RAID 1 volumes). In Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.5.1017 (latest), latest BIOS 2770, cannot right click on raid 1 volumes to convert them to recovery partitions, even though it says I should be able to in help file.
Also, ever since I converted over to RAID, certain DivX videos will cause major system f***up
The media player will abruptly stop playing video (or don't play it at all when double clicked), and then Windows XP will be unable to terminate the task. In task manager I will see CPU spikes every 4-5 seconds going to about 50% on Core 0 (not Core 1), but I am unable to isolate what is doing it because Task Manager doesn't update the CPU % of tasks when CPU is spiking... after about 5 minutes of this, system becomes very unstable and then can only be affected by holding down power button to turn off.
Every other action, like trying to run a program, etc. will stop working even though mouse is ok, etc.
After the power down, system will just sit there in reaction to power on. I will have to turn off power to power supply, turn back on to boot normally.
RAID 1 volumes then will go into verify mode for 9+ hours making system use very sluggish. This has happened to me 1x per day so I've stopped watching movies.
Any ideas? I've emailed Intel Support, too.
