D975Xbx2 - Lowering CPU Voltage

I currently have an Intel D975Xbx2 Motherboard and an E6600 C2D CPU. Now my problem just started happening a couple days ago. I was using my computer and suddenly it turned off. I tried turning it back on and I heard these 4 bios beeps and it shut off again (the beeps went High-low-High-low). I now know that this means that the timers on the board were reset due to some reason, I was unsure of why, but I unplugged the PSU and replugged it, and it seemed to work fine.
Now a few days later it happened again, but this time when I turned it on, I was informed that the CPU overheated and it shut itself down to prevent damage (sweet!). However I can't have my computer just shutting down all the time, so I need to fix this overheating problem.
I already applied some more thermal paste and I reset the heatsink, however I am told that I need to lower the voltage in the bios. Could someone with a little experience with the D975Xbx2 guide me trough this? I hate blindly going into the bios of a mobo when I honestly have no idea what I am looking for or doing in there!
Thanks a lot guys.
EDIT: Alright, I figured out how to do it and I lowered it to 1.300 from 1.325. Will that help? I am not seeing a decrease in temp, I am still getting around 30C idle.
And on another note, I am not using the marvell raid ****, how would I go about turning that off? I don't want it to do that whole array checking thing durring startup.
