memory problem with new build

Post by francois methot »

I am upgrading a computer for my nephew. I use a motherboard that was working fine before in another system up until I overclocked to much and crashes, then worked only with one stick of memory instead of 4. I removed the CPU and put the mobo away for a while.
I installed an Intel Core 2 6600 CPU on the D975BX2 motherboard + 1 GB of Corsair 667 MHz memory.
The computer boots well with one stick. If I install 2 or 4 sticks in dual channel, the computer can't boot and beeps 3 times signalling that there is a memory problem.
I swapped the memory stick, and still have the same problem on each stick; I mean that each stick will boot individually but when installed in two or four, the computer can't boot.
Any ideas where I can look to solve this problem?
Thank you

Sounds like you fried something in the board. Have you tried to see if the memory works in dual channel in another board? Have you reset the CMOS on the trouble board?

Yes I tried the memory on another board. I removed the batterie and waited a while to reset the CMOS but the BIOS setting was the same!!!
What is the meaning of 2T in memory timming?

that doesn't clear the CMOS often times, you often times have to remove the jumper and trip pins 2-3 and then move the jumper back to pins 1-2 (or vice versa)

About CMOS reset, I try:

Remove the batterie, place the jumper between 1-2, remove the power cord and hold the ON button to empty the power supply capacitor for few seconds and then I notice 2 flashing red LED each close to the CPU and rear fan headers. These LEDs flash 3 times and stop, then start again 3 times. Strangely, I empty almost all the juice in that computer and these LEDs still flashing!!!! and the BIOS still at the same setting!!!
