Hi guys i need some help here with my BFG 680i SLI motherboard
lately when I 1st turn my pc on in the morning it doesnt post? just stays blank (with "--" on the diagnostic led and no beeps) but then i hit the reset button and it boots up fine???
and or,
if i turn my pc on the monitor is slow to turn on and my monitor doesnt show the post screen (monitor turns on after the post screen or sometimes doenst turn on at all)
also the other day when i turned it on it came up with some weird error (cmos checksum error or someting) and i had to re-enter all my bios settings?
I did have my cpu overclocked but i changed back to stock speed and its still doing it, it only happens when i turn my pc on (once i do get it to boot up i can reset it from vista and it will start normally but if i turn it off then on it happens again)
I thought it might be a bad bios so I reflashed to p30 again i havent had the cmos checksum error since but im still getting either no post sometimes requiring reset or monitor slow to turn on during post
any1 else having similar probs with their 680i motherboard ?

no problems here at all and I run this board in my personal system with WD Raptor's in RAID 0, 4GB of memory, GeForce 8800 Ultra and Vista 64-bit like you, so the systems are close to the same.

Re: BFG 680i SLI mb doing weird things help???
UPDATE
" I now just use the Vista sleep (with Hyrid sleep enabled) instead of powering off my machine so I never have to see actual post anymore "
solves my bios not holding its settings, Strange dont u think????
I also out of curiosity unplugged my pc power cable then powered back up and it still resumed vista no cmos checksum error (although resuming after power-out takes just about as long to load as a cold boot but with out the error I was getting
now im Overclocked again @ 3.33Ghz and pc working fine, I love the Sleep feature pc resumes so fast
I never used the Hibernate or stand-by in xp but sleep in Vista is great!!!

Hmm, if you hadn't of tried unplugging it and rebooting I would have suggested swapping the CMOS battery.
It could be discharged and can't keep the CMOS settings for any length of time with a 'power out'. Do you still get the problems with just rebooting? Or is it only after a long power off of the system?
When you power down, is the PC power plug turned off at the wall? Or is it kept on at the wall overnight (or whenever it is off)?

Re: BFG 680i SLI mb doing weird things help???
I had a pc shop test my cmos battery and they said it was fine? I might try changing it anyway
when i do power down my pc it is kept on at the wall overnight
when i reboot it works fine i even see the Nidia Nforce 680i boot logo, but when i turn on from being powered down it either has the "cmos checksum error and resets default settings" or fails to post requring reset and it doesnt show the nvidia boot logo even when i dont get the cmos error the display turns on late like at the raid screen of post
so im just not gonna ever power down my pc again "thats what Microsoft wants anyways "
except when installing new hardware

Re: BFG 680i SLI mb doing weird things help???
Well I give up as to what the problem could be
I would have liked to blame it on vista but it's before the bootup phase so can't be the OS.
Lets hope that the super standby really doesn't use any electric as if it does then hello huge electric bills.
