Intel 975XBX2 and Adaptec SCSI 29329LPE problems

Trying to hookup an HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920 to the 29329LPE on this board. MAJOR issues.
Cannot POST at all with this SCSI card on this board. Talked to Intel and Adaptec. Only hope, flash BIOS on both and see if that fixes it. No dice.
Adaptec says on their site that there are issues with this card that Intel knows about for all the 975, 965, and 945 boards! Try the BIOS and if that doesnt resolve, call for workaround. Problem is, the workaround when you call is...........flash the BIOS!
Running a 3ware Raid controller on this board also, but even with it removed, no dice. As soon that this SCSi card touches the PCI-E slot...toast. Tried em all, but all are x16.
So now I'm trying to find a SCSI card for this board and tape drive that does 320MB throughput on a single channel. Anyone have anything running on this board that can handle that?
