Hey guys,
Just purchased some new hardware to get my PC to where it can play Bioshock with a better framerate. Unfortunately, I ran into trouble.
When I hit the power switch, the fans spin up, the CD-rom spins up, the light inside the case illuminates, HD activity and power LEDs are lit solid, but there is no video output, BIOS beep, or error code beep.
I've tried...
Using two different power supplies (same model). Checked and rechecked the cables to make sure that everything was plugged in securely.
Reseating processor.
Using an older PCI video card.
Using both DVI outputs and the S-Video output.
Reseating memory. Tried 1 DIMM of RAM at a time. Tried 0 DIMMs which resulted in the 3 beep warning - this is the only feedback I've gotten from the board so far.
Unplugged absolutely everything from the board except the PS, ram, and processor.
I don't have any other PCs capable of accepting the ram or processor or video card so I can't swap them around for troubleshooting purposes.
The hard drive, when it's plugged in, sounds like it's crunching away but I can't be sure what it's doing.
I think tomorrow I'm going to try taking the board out of the case and see if it'll boot up that way. Or, pick up a different board from Fry's and RMA the xbx2 if that does the trick. But if anyone has other ideas I'm willing to try just about anything.
All advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
jc
