Front Audio Ports??

Bad Axe 2
Anyone been able to use the front ports?

According to what I've been able to find out, here and around the web, it's due to the fact that the board only supports HD audio output and the ports are wired for AC '97 output.
Is that it?
What can be done about it?

I need it to run my headphones and speakers simultaneously.
It's a PIA to unplug one when wanting to use the other.

I've come up with the lazy man's fix of splitting the audio from the rear port with a $3.00 "Y" connector.
But I really hate to have to admit to the wife that I "can't" fix it.
She thinks I'm the "computer god".

Heh, I didn't know this was even a problem. I too use a 'y' adapter. But I stopped using the on board sound and just use my audigy.

I have been using the front ports. My case actually has 2 connectors... an HD and an AC97 piggy backed to the HD. I connected the front panel to the XBX2 using the HD cable and it works. I wish plugging in the headphone jack on the front panel would automatically mute the sound from the rear panel though.

Does the mic port work as well?

What type of case do you have?
