I have the 945 as mentioned above. The very latest BIOS and drivers.
On my previous mobo, I had 2 IDE+ CD drives. Since this board only has room for 2 IDE, I got an SATA HDD.Hooked up the IDE and CD to the IDE port..IDE pins set to master.
The BIOS shows all the drives, but no matter how I try, it will not allow me to change the boot order. In the normal position, it sets the cd as the first boot and floppy next, although I have no floppy. In the advanced mode, again, no change is possible and the order is fixed to boot the IDE HDD first. Although the BIOS indicates USB boot, this doesn't seem to work either.
I tried an IDE to SATA conversion dongle for the IDE HDD..kept the cd on the IDE. No Change. Next tried a PCI Ultra IDE controller card with both original IDE HDD drives into that, still no BIOS choices for boot sequence..
I could live with the controller card and both IDE HDD..or I can go with one HDD and one SATA or any combination.
I've tried all I know and perhaps someone will offer some help. Thanks..
D945GTP boot problems..
Re: D945GTP boot problems..
What i have noticed from a 965 and a p35 board (one with ami and one with award bios) is that you cant change the disk from the boot priority menu. There is another menu specifically for the harddrives. There you choose the order of the harddrives and the first one automatically appears on the boot priority menu. Look for hard drive order/sequence or something similar in the bios.
