Motherboard problem?

I've had my new computer for nearly a year now and have come across a small glitch it would appear with the system. Every now and then, I will start up and, after taking a good 30 seconds to POST, the computer will have reset back to stock frequencies and the BIOS startup screen will display the following message and pause: Warning! Now system is in safe mode. Please reset CPU or memory frequencies in the CMOS setup. I then have to option to dismiss the message and startup with stock speeds or enter setup and reset everything. Heres the twist, if I reset from this screen it goes back to normal. This has been happening off and on for a few months now, and it is starting to get annoying. Any Idea of what it could be (I think it is related to mobo or BIOS).
My specs:

-BFG 8800GTX
