Hey all,
Is anyone running the new 8800GT with the Intel 975XBX2 board? I hear there may be some issues with the PCi express slots only been 1.0 and not 1.1.
Any info would be great!

As far as I know a single GFX card from anyone will work. The problem comes if you try to run SLI. AFAIK it will only work with CrossFire. The PCIe standard is backward compatible.
Here is some more
info.

Thats what you would think.
There are big issues at the moment with the 8800GT not been compatible with some motherboards, mainly the ones running the 1.0 (1.0a) Basically the backwards compatibility works as follows: PCI-E 2.0 cards will run on PCI-E 1.1 slots, but not on all PCI-1.0a slots.

....Figures, this same **** happened with AGP2x couldn't run a 4x card for the life of me. Don't these idiots know what STANDARD means?
I hope what you say is limited to the cheaper boards.

I know it's madness! If I have to go by a DX38BT just to run a 8800GT I'm not going to be happy. Anyway maybe someone has a solid answer for us as.

Ok, one of the guys over at EVGA said that it will be fine because it has the 8 pin supplemental power connector which offsets the fact that it's running PCI-E 1.0a.
I would still like to hear from someone who is running this setup though...

Good news. My new PSU should happily work with the GT.
