I have recieved an email from BFG Tech regarding compatability of their 680i SLI mobo and the new qx9650 cpu
quote from email:
" Right now the board does not. A BIOS update is being made up that will clear this issue up.
Thank you,

so it seems i will not have to buy a 780i mobo after all
ill keep my 680i until the new intel cpu's change socket design

Nvidia 680i chipset fails future-proof test
The Inquirer wrote:IT HAS LONG BEEN rumoured on Internet forums, but now a moderator at EVGA forums has appeared to confirm that Nvidia's Nforce 680i chipset fails to support all 45nm processors from Intel
I normally take anything the Inq says with a pinch of salt, but they are quoting EVGA.
Since all 680i boards use the NV reference design, execpt some Asus boards, I would double check with BFG that all 45nm chips are supported!

The EVGA 680i SLI motherboard will support 45nm Wolfsdale (dual core) CPU's with an upcoming BIOS update. 45nm Yorkfield (quad core) CPU's will be supported on upcoming nForce 700-series SLI motherboards.

I just emailed BFG again and yes they just confirmed to me that their 680i SLI mobo just needs a bios update to work with the qx9650, as that is the cpu im buying soon, well as soon as they release the bios update for the board.
if they are lying to me I guess ill just have to buy the new 780i mobo but I will not buy one from BFG in that case

You could get a refund on the board if they claim to support them and they don`t
Keep the emails you never know :p
