where do i get the linux driver for the 82547ei lan chip. ? what is the file
name called? is there anything else i should be aware of in order to get
lan connectivity?

Intel's website has a linux driver download for this Gigabit LAN chip... Try this URL... it was listed under the first driver available to download when I was at this link.
