Hi,
I am very new to this topic of OverClocking and have never overclocked
anything before. Below is the Spec of my computer I just assembled :-

Mobo - Intel D975 Bad Axe 2
Processor - C2D 2.2 Ghz
Graphics - Sapphire HD2600 Pro 512MB
RAM - 1GB Kingston
HDD - 160 GB Seagate SATA
Power Supply - Cooler Master 500 Watt Original
cabinet - Zebronics Cabinet With 3 Fan Cooling + Temp LCD
DVD Writer - Sony
DVD ROM - Samsung

* Since my mobo supports OC could u plz guide me something about OC
and what exactly we have to do in OC so that my pc runs smooth
and am able to play games etc.

Don't be rude to guests martini.

Not everyone can understand or even likes that overclocking guide. It is way too involved for me and goes beyond what the average user wants or needs to know about a modest overclock.

Now to the OP: Welcome! Feel free to browse that guide if you like, but I would take a look HERE.

First off, familiarize yourself with the manual that comes with your motherboard. There should be some overclock settings in the bios. Make sure your comp is stable at stock and a burn-in is recommended. Download some of the utilities below and get familiarized with your hardware. Take note of the speeds, voltages, etc. I even write them down as a reference.

Set PCIE to 100mhz, and watch your ram speed as it will change as you change the fsb speed.

You can begin overclocking by making small increases to the fsb speed while testing stability with a utility like Prime 95. Once you find your overclock is unstable, you can make small increases to the cpu voltage. Just be careful and watch the temps especially when using stock cooling. You should be able to get close to 2.6Ghz without any other changes.

Some utilities that I use are: Core Temp, HW Monitor, CPU-Z, GPU-Z, OCCT, Prime 95, Super Pi, SiSoft Sandra, Rivatuner, Lightsmark 07, and 3DMark06.

If you have any more specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask as there are many highly experienced overclockers here.

And thanks to ibleet and martini for helping me out. Guys, I heard that E4500 C2D is
hard to Over Clock but I have seen people Overclocking it above 2.9 Ghz well ill try
overclocking my fsb and will also run the apps you suggested me.

Well there is one more problem with me...I had been seeing these strange lights on
my LCD screen when I run 3DMark06 Pro and any game...plz have a look at the following pic and
if possible plz tell me what all these strange lights on the right and bottom of my screen
depict ? As far as I know...I think there is some defect in my Graphic Card and needs
to be replaced by Sapphire...well thanks once again ... ill try Oc and will tell u results
after some time.

no problem about the searching thing. as for the lights, is your graphics card oced?

What size and type monitor are you using? What resolution do you run, and what resolution are you using for 3Dmark06? Do you get the same artifacts when in windows or running games?

Well I'm not an expert by any means, so I generally fix things using the "process of elimination" method. There seems to be a few possibilities here:
1 - Overclock, 2 - drivers, 3 - monitor, 4 - video card.

First, If your video card is overclocked, set it back to default and check for artifacts using 3Dmark06.

Next, uninstall the video drivers, use driver cleaner pro, reinstall drivers and check results.

Next swap your monitor (if available) and check for artifacts using the same software.

Finally swap out the video card (if available) and check the same thing.

Hi, I am using Samsung SyncMaster and I have not overclocked my GPU yet
but still whenever I play Juiced 2 Hot Import Nights I get these lights on the
same place on my screen and the game also crashes if i play it in full high
resolution i.e. 1280X1024 and I also use the latest version of CCC
i.e. Catalyst Control Center which is 8.3 or so with latest driver.

4 Ati Graphic Cards...cuz I know it supports Ati CrossFire with 2 graphic cards but I have no
idea about 4 Ati Graphic cards on Bad Axe 2. Well ill be very glad if you will tell me this as well.

no it wont support 4 gpus, i dont think it even has 4 slots. as for your monitor problem sounds like you should rma your graphics card

I recommend trying this first ---> Uninstall drivers, run Driver Cleaner pro, boot into safe mode, run Driver Cleaner pro, boot normally, reinstall most up to date video card drivers.

If that doesn't do the trick, then RMA the card as martini suggested.

Yes, it will support CFX. Just at 8x not 16. Just like regular CF. CFX Is four GPU's on two cards, not four cards.

For example two 3870 X2's.

Well now about my signature....buddy the girl isn't smoking but since its winter time
and the girl is just pretending that she is smoking where as its the fog
is coming out of her mouth....I can say this my friend because I edited two
pics to make that sig and in that the girl wasn't smoking at all...well it is
funny to think in your way because....when I see it now it seems to me the same
thing as if she is smoking...where as she is not...

Kudos to the person that posted the Hexus link. Remember that a locked multiplier with PC2-6400 is going to limit your OC potential. Just look at my lil E6300 @2.8Ghz. It wants to go faster but my ram says No, no, no.
