Well I have my maximus @ 500fsb, would it be possible to get it much past this realistically? it works up until 508ish then at around 510 it won't post

Realistically I wouldn't have thought you could get much more from that board, 500Mhz+ is pretty high.

You could have always hit the roof of your E6300 too, so either way, it looks like you have maxxed out.

kind of off topic but i have another question, say i had a low end cpu with a high multi, say 10 or 11, with enough cooling/voltage would it be possible to get a c2d to 5GHz with high end water cooling? 500 fsb i know my mobo can do, but x 10=5GHz, and the only added stress would be on the cpu right(compared to what i have now which is 7x500)

You are right in that your mobo can handle it, but the thing is that without extreme cooling and volts (like LN2 or phase) then the CPU won't be able to handle it (even EE C2D's).

With high end water the 65nm C2D's top out around 4Ghz (most a bit below), but it should be possible to get more with a decent 45nm C2D.

the only ive heard of 5ghz out of a core 2 duo was on an engineering sample with a cascade phase change system :toimonster:
