Hi

I finished yesterday assembling my new computer, and When I tried to verify if everything work as expected I found via Everest that the MCP North Bridge: nVIDIA nForce 680i SLI (C55XE) is overheating, it's temparature go up to 100C, first i thought that it's due to software bug reporting the right temperature, but when I touched the heatpipe, it harmed my finger and this at factory default settings (No Overclocking)

I don't think that the thermal grease will be a solution since the heat sink is already hot which mean it get all the heat from the chipset.

I tried bios upgrade but nothing changed, it seemed to be even worse, I'm trying to downgrade it now.

does someone has the same motherboard, what's the temperature of the MCP ??? what are the expert advices, other than installing some third party fan + Hs.

Thanks.

If it were me, I would RMA that motherboard and fast. There is no way the NB should be that hot at stock, right out of the box.

same mobo here!

using bios 1404? i just flashed to it yesterday... what are you using to read the temperatures? the ASUS system monitor is notorious for being heinously off target so you may want to use another program to read your system temps

i'd recommend CPUID's HWMonitor http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
but that's just what i use for general system temps, not sure if the NB is there for you
anyone other than me know if this has what he's looking for?

Regardless of how off-target your software is, the NB should not be so hot to the touch that it burns your finger that quickly.

I have about 10 of those MoBo's up and running, no problems and nothing like those temps.

RMA
