CPU not working on MB

Ok so the problem is, when i put the new processor in... i get nothing, just a very high noise when i start, no picture on screen or anything.. it doesnt stop, but it keeps on running at very high noise.

Im not sure if its my BIOS that cant recognise the CPU, lack of cooling or what it is.
the obvious part would be my FSB lack on my MB. my mb has 1066 and the cpu needs 1333. Please help ;)

Did you clear the Bios? can you tell where the noise is coming from? And what does the bios start if you pull it up on boot for the CPU?

What mobo do you have? It may very well be a mobo support issue since you did say it only supports 1066 fsb and your new CPU is designed for mobo's with 1333 fsb.

Only thing to try is to make sure the board is using the latest BIOS.

As Sparky said, it is most likely because the E6850 uses a 1333FSB. P965 chipsets were not designed for 1333FSB processors, so it is most likely the board doesn't offer support for them. Intel validates P965 for 1066/800/533 FSB's only.
