For the new Intel chips & associated MOBO's ....
I've almost hosed my Vista install with all the tinkering in the last year or so.
I'd rather do the reinstall on a new build.
How much longer will it be?
Read your review this AM Apop.
Looks as though the 920 might be the best value, provided that it'll overclock well.
Would you agree?

I totally agree that the 920 is the best value... There is no difference between the 920,940,965 other than a two settings and that is the multiplier and the QPI multiplier. The 920 I have will easily reach 965 speeds. Just have to increase the Multiplier from 20 to 24 to get the clock frequency to go from 2.66GHz to 3.20GHz and then increase the QuickPath Interconnect from 4.8GT/s to 6.4GT/s, which is one of three options in the BIOS.
I'll be 100% honest here, when the Core i7 920 hits the streets I'm buying a retail one for my office and sticking it in that case I used for the review.

Won't the non-ES chips have their multipliers locked?

True, which is why I hate having unlocked ES samples. I've had the 920 at 145x20 for sure and that is 2.9GHz. I'll have to see how it does on the retail version.

I heard that Nov. 17th will be the release date. That's just rumor though.

920 with the Asus P6T-Deluxe board & Triple channel memory kit on the way ...
No doubt that in a few months I'll be saying ... "You should have waited dumbass!"
