ok, I'm going for a budget upgrade and was looking at getting the Asus P5S800-VM
http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket7 ... erview.htm

this will allow me to use most of my old parts (vid card, drives) and I will be getting a aspire qpack case
http://aspireusa.net/product.php?pid=14 ... 011efa3779

the second option I though of was the DFI LAN PARTY 875P-T
http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_produc ... LP&SITE=US

have yet to find a case that I like for this one yet.

oh, this is going to be the new home of the cpu I won from you guys at the warfactory LAN on the 30th.

I reviewed the 875P-T awhile ago and think it is a great motherboard.....you can't go wrong with DFI or the 875 chipset.

I'd skip over the Asus P5S800-VM that uses the SIS651FX chipset as it is outdated and slower than the intel i875/i915/i925 chipset options.

I saw that newegg has the DFI LANPARTY UT 915P-T12 Socket T (LGA 775) refurb priced at $84 + $1 shipping or $85 total...

Or the ABIT AA8 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 925X ATX Intel Motherboard for $100, which is a board I owned and know is stable and good. It also has the Intel 925X chipset.

A few choices out there for $100 or less!

One of the best overclocking boards is the DFI 925X-T2 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 925X ATX Intel Motherboard and they got those at $140

I have always been a leary of referb stuff, the whole lack of warenty. I had first picked the DFI UT915P-T12 but I would have to drop more on the jump to PCI-E that means that my kids get a 5700ultra to play dora the explorer with.

mroe to think on...

thanks for the info and help.

i've bought a few refurb boards from newegg and haven't had any issues with them. The last one came with just the box though. If you're going for low cost i'd stick with an LGA775 socket, DDR1, and AGP for sure. The DFI 875 board should be solid and a step in the right direction for sure.
