D975XBX2 BIOS Settings & Intermittent Hang

I have not been able to find a good explanation of what the following BIOS settings do.
Advanced – Drive Configuration – Use Automatic Mode
Advanced – Management Configuration – ASF Support
Performance – Processor Overrides – Enhanced Power Slope
I am still experiencing an intermittent system hang on startup just after Windows begins to load. I have had this problem with both XP and Vista. I have the latest BIOS, RAID and LAN drivers. It would not be so inconvenient if I did not have the drives in a RAID configuration. Because it is RAID, the system always begins a RAID "Repair and Verification" that takes a few hours.
I do not know what version of the INF Chipset Installation utility was installed. Any help finding out which version was installed would be very helpful. I am currently using Vista Ultimate.
