EVGA 750i BIOS update

Post by skier »

= spike in temps?????

i updated the BIOS to the newest one thinking that it will cure my problem of the 750i not being able to boot with an SATA optical disk plugged in(it didn't) and the result is that my CPU is running 15C hotter, because, it would seem, the Fan is not spinning as fast, Speedfan says it's at 900RPM all the time, as it used to go up to 1200 when it hit 70C(and it has never been above 75C), but now it's at 90C!

(folding on two GPU's without working thermal sensors, and two text-only clients running@ 95% CPU utilization on each, resulting in 95-100% utilization constant)

Are there fan speed controls in the BIOS that you can use to override the default slow profile?

What CPU cooler are you rocking on?

i fixed it, i was on the stock intel, but yesterday my masscool CPU cooler came in the mail

and i cranked the fan up in speedfan, now the full load temps with both GPU's going and two text clients are 56C tops, as opposed to the old 76 which it would hit when i used to run one GPU and one client, so in one day, my temps at load dropped by 35C!!!

and on a side note, Macro mode isn't half bad on this new camera, i've never had a camera which took pictures where the lettering on a CPU was readable(including all of my parents cameras) :supz:

Dude, that pathetic intel thing shouldn't have been used for an overclock like that! :P

Glad you've upped the arsenal. :)

well hey, it got the job done for a while, now, the next sub-20 degree (F) day i'm gonna stick the tower in the window and see just what the chip can do

the fan has been set to 2700RPM, and it hasn't budged off 56C, never up to 57, but it has been down to 50(this is under full load, with two 9600GSO's folding, and in a 74F degree room) and hell, ambient temps are 42

and i'm also gonna lap it come December break :supz:
