Hello,

I am moving my Intel 975XBX2 motherboard in to a new case with a new 700 watt power supply. Since I built the computer originally this hasn't been all that hard. However, I have a question. I believe I had the same question when I built the computer originally, but I want to make sure I am correct.

Question:

The motherboard has three connectors for the power. One large bar that can only be plugged in to one connector. A second 8 pin power connector and since the only connector that will plug-in to it with the new power supply is a 4 pin x2 module, nothing else will plug-in so I believe I have that one. But, the one that is throwing me is a 4 pin plug that looks exactly like the power connector used on old IDE hard drives. Since I do not have a single connector version of this plug-in do I just plug-in one of the ones that has two or three on a wire? In other words do I use one of the power connectors that you would use for an old IDE hard drive? I believe I do since my old power supply would have required the same thing but I want to make sure so I don't fry something.

Yes, that appears to be correct from the few images I can find of it on the web. It's a molex connector that's typically used for old PATA/IDE drives such as hard drive and optical drives.

That's what I thought.
