Asus is showing off the Marine Cool Concept Motherboard at CeBIT and I must say that this is one of the coolest looking boards that I have seen in some time.

If the front of the motherboard with notebook SO-DIMM slots and Failover doesn't impress the backplate features a "micro-porous ceramic" technology, which delivers quicker heat dissipation than existing alternatives.

The back also has a polymer UPS, so this board is nuts!

Ok, that think looks stunning! But I don't get it. Is it supposed to be a notebook board or a desktop board? The SO-DIMM slots have me confused. Or is this like the RAM-BUS thing?

oh it's 100% a desktop board... The so-dimms are party of the fail-safe memory system that is switchable... Not 100% sure how it works yet, but I've called and left a voice mail with my contact to find out.

I wish it was a LGA1366 motherboard and not LGA775 since it's a concept board.

Here are a ton of pictures from CeBIT over at Engadget - http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-of ... d/1397742/

In the SO-DIMM slots, which are where the desktop DIMM's would normally be.

Uhm, won't that be markedly slower than any of the newer standard RAM modules? Or is this more a proof of concept?

800MHz SO-DIMM and 800MHz DIMM should be the same speed...

And, yes this is just a concept board.
