Intel DX58SO No Audio

Post by Rutgar »

Hi All,

I just purchased this motherboard, along with a new case, P/S, and 2 Sappire 4870 X2 video cards to run in crossfire mode. I received all of this in boxes late yesterday and proceded to put it all together. After several tries of figuring out which DVI connector to use to get video (Sapphire's installation guide is worthless) I finally got video and was able to get into the BIOS. Once I confirmed everything looked good in the BIOS, I loaded in Windows Vista 64. Once that was completed, I moved to the Intel motherboard drivers. The main drivers loaded successfully, but the audio drivers failed. I installed a game just to see where everything stood. And sure enough, upon running the game there was no sound.

Anyone familiar with this MOBO, and have any suggestions?

I use the board in the LR test bench. I had some issues with it and Vista 64 but after updating the BIOS and getting the newest driver files from Intel's site it worked like a champ.

I'd start with checking to see if the versions you have are the newest (most likely not) and go from there.

If I read the BIOS version correctly in my computer, there is a newer version, as well as newer drivers. It will have to wait until later today, but D/L'ing and installing those will be my next step.

Thanks!

Just to follow up. I D/L the new Bios and new Audio drivers and installed them. No hitches and the audio works perfectly now.

BTW, I used the 'Express' Bios installation, and it worked flawlessly.
