The ASUS Z7S WS is a server motherboard that is designed for Dual Intel Xeon LGA 771 processors and uses the Intel 5400 SSI CEB. At $479.99 shipped it is by far not the cheapest LGA 771 motherboard on the market today, but it is packed with features.
It has....
*Four Channel FB-Dimm.
*Wide variety of E5xxx Xeons and QX9775 processors to pick from.
* Excellent Value, 1/3 less than the SkullTrail, with better performance (PCI-E 2.0 v. PCI-E 1.1).
*Ample USB slots
*Has a legacy IDE if you want to go old school on the hard drive, DVD Drives.
Here are a few pictures of a build that I did for a server:
A little messy, but I am going to get a different case as the HAF 922 isn't going to work for this build...
Some of the system specs:
2x Intel Xeon E5450 Harpertown CPU's @ 3.0GHz- $1938
ASUS Z7S WS - $469.99
4x WD VelociRaptor HDD's - $720
Adaptec 3405 HW RAID - $299
2x Kingston 8GB FB-DIMM 800MHZ kits - KVR800D2D4F5K2/8G - $579.98 (incoming waiting on FedEX)
ATI Radeon HD 3450 - $23.99
Cooler Master HAF 922 - $129.99
