EVGA E761 X58 Classified Tease

Post by Gomeler »

Hey guys, got a new toy from Nate. There's been a void in my reviewing life since I reviewed the Asus X48 Rampage Extreme a while back. This should help cure the itch :supz:

Image

First up will be an AMD780G review and the Koolance CPU-LN2 review, going to crank those out in the next 2 days so I can play with the classified 8)

ps- ignore the nail clipper, cascade, and dewar :?

explains why the 759 was dissed...this have the full 16x on the pci-e slots? I might hold off on getting a new motherboard(I don't like mine anymore) either this one or the new MSI Eclipse Plus

The E760/E761 unfortunately are limited by the number of PCIe lanes from the X58 chipset. I'm not certain how the lanes are distributed with 3 cards and 4 cards, but it isn't always going to be PCIe 16x bandwidth. Once I have the board up and running I'll double check, but I believe it drops down to 8x when 4 cards are in operation.

Just a start. This was done at -88 Celsius, thankfully my chip has no coldbug or coldboot bug on my mini cascade. This board rocks :)

Sadly ~5GHz is the stable limit with this chip. Need to buy a Xeon w3540 or w3570 to get more speed

Can you get more BCLK out of it by lowering the multiplier?

Nope. bclk limitation is a chip limitation for the QPI link :(
