Hi all,
As header.
I have just set up a new second sata hardrive on this m/b with my old sata hd as storage (dual boot).
I also have a new plextor sata dvd .
Trouble is Its now not being recognised when I load a disc :(
Worked fine of course for install of windows 7 and again installing various progs etc, but just now its started not loading and I get please insert a disc pop up!
The drive is fine as if I do a boot from cd its there :?
I am kinda sure its to do with the bios settings but am not clear tbh
Can anyone point to the likley problem as I am stumped and peeved.
tia.

Well replying to my own post :|
I just checked the other hd and that works fine with the dvd drive so I guess its not a bios issue after all :?
Must be this windows 7 thing as I am using vista on the other hd.
I will try searching a win 7 forum but if any kind soul sees the likley culprit please give me a shout

in the BIOS standard options section does it list the drive? it might have recently gotten disconnected, the SATA plugs use REALLY weak plastic which doesnt stay put very well either, for the power AND data cables, the notch on both my harddrives for the data cables broke, and the plastic is broken in a couple other places too for me.

<- prefer IDE and Molex for reliability

Hi skier,
Well I finally nailed it after being up half the night
It was down to a %$*! virus checker!!
That so and so thing had somehow established a hold on any files being introduced into the system - - -namely my DVD writer
I never suspected it would have re-organised iself when I put it on the new system
Although tbh I was about to have the cover of the pc to check cables - - - again!
Hopefully its something for others to take note of for reference :|
Thank you for your time O:)
Stuart.
