DH55HC CPU Power Connector

Hello All.
I have built a number of systems, but not for several years now, and I am not sure if I have purchased incompatible hardware.
I am setting up an Intel DH55HC MB with i5-750 CPU, and an Apevia Warlock 900w PS. The mother board CPU power connector is a 4 pin 12v. The power supply CPU power connector is 8 pin 12v. As far as I can tell from the wiring diagram, the 8 pin connector is two 4 pins side by side. Can I plug in one side of the 8 pin to the 4 pin on the mother board?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yep. They are supposed to accommodate motherboards with a 4-pin or 8-pin.

the connector layout is designed so it can only go in one way so you shouldn't even be able to plug it in wrong(the 8 is basically a 4-pin connector with 4 more pins with a different shaped connector layout next to it, one row of 4 power wires, and a row of 4 grounds.)

(newer power supplies that are decent come with an 8-pin ATX power plug as most of higher end boards use it, you generally only find 4-pin on older boards, but new ones that are based on weaker or cheaper chipsets also only use 4, which pretty much only limits overclocking abilities(I personally think the 8-pin standard should be forced to all boards))

Thanks for the info. Really wanted to make sure before I killed the CPU accidentally.
