I'm still learning to play around with this board, but here's what I've got so far:
V-Core is set at 1.275 , QPI is 5.976 GT/s Ram is underclocked at 1328 mhz @ 1.5v Temps seem ok, idles at 30C. Am I doing it right?

is it stable at that low voltage?

Man those i7 D0's kick ass.

what got me puzzled I have a D0 and I need a bit more volts for stability

Seems to be stable, blue screened once during stress test with the dram voltage at 1.24v so I upped it to 1.5v and loosened the settings a bit, hasn't crashed since (specs for ram at full speed at 1.65v). Again, I'm pretty new with this board, I wasn't sure if that was enough or too much voltage on the v-core. Everything is set to "auto" except the ram settings and the v-core. I have BCLK set at 166 and multiplier at 23 so my OC should be 3.818 but CPUZ shows it with Turbo (I assume) at 4.142 so the CPUZ screenshot may have been a bit misleading. Any help is greatly appreciated.

from one x58 motherboard to the next x58 motherboard is all about the same type of settings (I personally messed with 6 different x58 boards). you have turbo turned on in the BIOS, if ou get any problems with your current overclock (with Turbo on) then turn off Turbo and see how things fair. but all in all great overclock and good job.


EDIT: I had to go over the math and I was wrong on the original number of X58 board I have used over these last coupe of years, the actual grand total of X58 based boards is 10.

Thanks DragonFury. My big concern was the voltage on the cpu. So it sounds like I'm on the low end for the OC I'm running so I should be ok.

your QPI volts seem a tad high I don't normally run mine past 1.35, IOH voltage I normally set to 1.25, the IOH PCI-E voltage I set mine to 1.65 (but this is up to you on this), ICH I set from 1.1-1.15, ICH PCI-E is another voltage is up to you I again set mine to 1.65, turn off both spread spectrums, load line calibration I set it to fallow Intel spec. the CPU voltages would be up to your CPU specifically, I normally turn off turbo and the speed stepping.

Sorry for the thread jack, I've been having issues overclocking mine setup after I updated the bios and did not write my settings down.

I just checked and I see my QPI / DRAM voltage is 1.375 and is highlighted in hot pink in BIOS. Is this an acceptable number or is it too high?
EDIT: I just googled it to learn more and I'm seeing some posts saying it should always be within .03v of CPU voltage. Is this true? Just lowered mine to 1.293v with CPU at 1.264v.

try and drop it down a couple of notches and see how it handles. I have never needed to go above a 1.35 volts and still manage a 220 BCLK and have my memory achieve 1780 MHz. Also I been running this same memory for about 2 years now on a CPU that is over a year old now that has rarely seen anything below 4.1GHz.

EDIT: A little tip try and drop the QPI down a bit if it crashes or locks up, add a bit more CPU voltage to the Core of the CPU, then see if it crashes. this will determine on what voltage adjustment that is needed for you to run with your overclock. Ultimately we are overclocking the CPU, but we have to use the BCLK to do so and that is directly related to the QPI. We should be adding voltages to the CPU and then only add voltages to the QPI when it is absolutely necessary.

OK, have V-Core set to 1.264v and QPI / DRAM at 1.293v. Going to run some stress tests and see how it works out.
Currently I'm at 31C-34C idle, CPU stress tests put me at 91C max and RAM stress test I see the CPU at the mid 80's. How does this look temp wise to you guys?

A little high on the CPU temps. I like to target 65ish max but safely I can say 70-72.

I have a Hyper 212+ cooler with Arctic Silver on it, I'm hoping I'm OK for now because I don't often hit 100% CPU for any extended period of time. The 91C I saw was momentary, for the most part it was in the high 80's. But again, this was after a 5 minute burn in test.
So should I be backing my 3.7ghz OC down a bit or am I OK?

I would then if you want to go a little higher on the freq's then get a bit better CPU cooler.

Kind of new at this...so can you clarify as to "going a little higher on the frequency". I know I have BCLK at 169 and the multiplier (set at 22 now), which setting are you referring to?

lol, I mean by having higher CPU overclock will warrant a better CPU heatsink. You can set the BCLK to 200 and still have a low CPU core speed. ie 200 x 12 = 2.4GHz, or 200 x 19 = 3.8GHz (not exactly low but you get the idea)

OK, thanks. I've played with the multiplier in order to get the RAM higher but keep the CPU speed where I want it. I think I'll just leave it alone for now and see how the temps do. Like I said, I don't think I've ever had the CPU loaded at 100% for any length of time except in stress tests so I'm not seeing any heat issues now, been running for hours now and it's at 32C - 36C....nice and cool. If it gets hot I'll back it down a bit more or try a better cooler. I'm pretty happy with the Hyper 212+ but I saw a new Zalman CNPS9900 that looked pretty effective recently.
