I have an Abit IS7 now...and the thing is a piece of junk. I have had problems with it ever since i got it...like 2 years ago. The sound on it blews big time (not that i use onboard, its just the fact of the matter) and the north bridge heatsink is a POS, first the fan dies on me, and now the pins that hold the fan in a coming out of the board!! next thing i can see happening is my cat is gonna rub against my case and the board is gonna blow up and me cat will turn into a big fluff ball...though it would be fun to watch, it would be sad.
So, i dont really know too much about the good products, just that I my board sux and i never want to support Abit again.
I know i should just upgrade to a better processor and all that junk...but i like doing things the hard way. So, here is what i got now. I would like to just swap the board out for a new board and not have to buy anything else. im not at home, so i dont have all the specifics on everything...i will do my best from memory.
proc: Intel Pentium 4 3.4E Prescott 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 478
Memory: CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200)
and two other sticks of 512 ddr value ram...not totally sure on the specs on those...
ati radeon 9700 AIW
2 dvd drives
1 IDE HD - 40gb
1 SATA HD - i think 250gb
some sound blaster card, i think audigy gamer,
a bunch of usb stuff... front ports are needed
PSU: an older Antec tru power something...i think 550w
I think that is it.
Thanks for all the help! I figured, who better to ask for advice than you guys?
