MSI Claims That Gigabyte Fakes PCIe 3.0 Gen 3?

On August 9th, 2011 Gigabyte made a claim that all of their Intel 6 series boards were 22nm CPU ready and offered native support for PCI Express Gen 3. It appears that MSI didn't like that claim and released a presentation done by the companies engineers in Taiwan that claims only one of the 43 boards is truly PCI Express Gen 3 compliant! What board is okay? The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 gets the okay from MSI when it comes to offering real PCIe 3.0 support. So, according to MSI most of Gigabytes boards are far from ready for native PCIe Gen. 3 support.

Wow, you don't see companies blatantly call another out too often. It's on!

I am surprised that intel is already pushing 22nm CPU's. it has only been what 1.5-2 years or so since 32nm debuted. Might be off a little bit....

What gets me is the need to "push" the perceived obsolescence of previous hardware specs. We all know that 99% of the software isn't going to support the latest spec, even if Intel pays some company to try. Plus I find it hard to believe that it will really make that much difference...

Sweet, right on MSI. It's nice to see companies do this to keep each other in check. If only they did this for pricing too (e.g., the multiple price fixing debacles with respect to flat panel TVs and Monitors)!

Adding new features helps push/enable innovation, so if Intel makes it available someone will find a use for it! If you have software that needs a particular hardware feature in a CPU, you'd have to wait 2+ years for it to be available (feature design, then CPU design, validation, fabrication, testing/validation, rework the design for possible flaws, fabricate the next stepping, retest/revalidate, etc.).

now i want to see how Gigabyte handles the situation here, from a PR curiosity standpoint

also would like to see external testing to verify MSI isnt just blowing smoke either
