Maybe try to take out the bios battery then reinstall. Try with only one stick of memory. Do a clean install of Windows. Let us know what you find out.

hook up your hard drive. Can you go into your bios? Do you have a floppy drive connected? I doubt that your rig will boot if everything is not connected. It has to go thru a boot sequence.

Yes, I was thinking that myself. I added to my last post. You see if you don't know what settings are in your bios, your boot sequence may be off. Causing a non-boot. Do you have a more powerful power supply? Depending on the boot sequence you may need to add a floppy drive.

Try that new power supply and keep in touch. I hope that is your problem. If that doesn't work then I think that the cpu is problem.

i am afraid cpu is broken i think because i tried with only one memory stick, old x1550 and one hard disk, 350 watt must be enough for this low system at least windows should start

if i figure out the problem let you know thanks for everything take care

Are you using only 4 of the 8 pins for the CPU power? If only using 4 then that would explain why the E4500 works and Q6600 doesn't. The CPU is not getting enough power.

That should work. Only using a 4-pin connector never even crossed my mind. The first rig I build was with a Intel QX6700 cpu. The same motherboard that you have, by the way. I'm still using that rig.

i think only solution is to find another motherboard and try q6600 on it if it works there is something with motherboard otherwise cpu is dead
