CES 2012: MSI Debuts Z77 Ivy Bridge Motherboards
CES 2012: MSI Debuts Z77 Ivy Bridge Motherboards
MSI is showing their upcoming socket LGA1155 motherboards with Intel's Z77 chipset supporting Intel's "Ivy Bridge" processors. That's good news for those waiting the new processors in Q2. Although these are only pre-release builds which may be obvious given the lack of elaborate heatsinks, etc. The two that are currently being shown are the Z77-GD65, and a higher-end Z77-GD80. Each are supposed to sport native USB 3.0 and PCIE 3.0 with the GD80 likely having the oft talked about Thunderbolt support. Each also offer four RAM slots for DDR3-2667 modules (OC), Military Grade III components, ClickBIOS II, OC Gene II, Multi-BIOS II, and THX TruStudio Pro sound.
All of the details are approved for public consumption yet but we can say that the Z77-GD65 will have four USB 3.0 ports, four SATA 6Gbps ports, two PCIe 3.0 x16 (x16/NC or x8/x8), one PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4, wired to PCH), and four PCIe 2.0 x1. The Z77-GD80 upgrades with some additional USB/SATA ports and the aforementioned Thunderbolt support.
No word yet on pricing but expect availability to coincide with the Ivy Bridge release.

We had a chance to meet with MSI this morning and had a chance to snap a few photos of the MSI Z77A-GD80 and Z77A-GD65.
