motherboard question

I'm planning to put together a rig with the pentium M760, I've won (courtesy of LR :) )
my big dilemma untill now was that I had pretty much 2 options: If I wanted a PCI-E motherboard - I had to get an AOPEN MOBO (very expensive)
or get an ASUS (P4P800-SE or P4P800-VM) with an AGP interface + a CT-479 adapter. now the situation changed: ASUS updated the list of compatible motherboards by adding 4 more MOBO's, including 2 that have PCI-E :P

http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3 ... odelmenu=1
(see the list of compatible MOBO's at the bottom)

my question is: which MOBO you guys think would be better to go with my PM760 ? this one:

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1

or

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1

thanks for any replies.

The P4GD1 has a better chipset -> support for 800MHz FSB......could be more usefull for OC'in
Also the other board only has 2 DIMM slots....

Either would do, but I'd go for the P4GD1......

This one!

so the 915P is better then the 915PL? why?
how about the P4GPL-X's hyper path 2 feature? is that a HOAX?
people usually use only 2 DIM slots anyway. any other suggestion?

I'd only go for the other board because of more features.....

In the end.....both will do perfectly well.......
It all depends on the price and if you need the extra features....!

thanks ken. the price is about the same. (I found the GD1 for slightly more).
I'm happy to get the PCI-E interface though. :)

If you go for one of the new ATI cards, with that CPU OC'ed you'll have one damn nice gaming system.......no wait that will be two ;)

There is an adapter card for sale by audiophile in the FS/FT thread you might want to talk him down $5 or $10 and pick it up! Sounds like you are going to have some O/C'ing fun here in a bit!

OK, I will ask him. thanks. audiophile: you have a PM :)

BTW, Nate: which MOBO should I get? the P4GD1 or the P4GPL-X from ASUS? (links above). ken said to get the P4GD1 but would be nice to get a second opinion

anybody knows of a review of any of these MOBO's? I can't fin anything on them on google

I'd personally say the P4C800E-Deluxe, but you want PCIe.... I've never used either of those so I'm afraid I can't help much.

i've got the p4gd1... it's not a bad motherboard.

sidenote, i've got my motherboard, processor, ram, and adapter pending right now. there's someone willing to buy them all.

if not, then I take the MOBO and adapter, depending on price :)

yeah, because there isn't much choice in AGP anymore, only entry and mid level cards and not too many :(
with PCI-E I could get a 7800GT or an 1800XL (no AGP in those :( )
