D975XBX2 my experience so far

Post by boris »

This is my first post here so hello to all.
So far for the last 10 days this board is rock solid.
That being stated there are several issues that I had. My system is as it follows:
Desktop Board D975XBX2 Rev 505 latest bios
CPU core 2 duo 6600
Video Leadtek Winfast7900
HD 3x segate 320 sataII 16mb set as AHCI on Intel controller
(driver loaded from flopy after F6)
OCZ Dual Chanel DDR2 6400 GX XTC 4GB (5-5-5-12 2.1V)
After initial fascination on how system is fast I had encountered several problems:
Marvel controller post error - fixed by disabling secondary Controller and that brought continuous HD light issue - called Intel tech support and they did confirmed that this should be fixed in next bios .

Second post issue was that for some reason network boot was enabled by default - so it was waiting for a long time to actually boot in system
After disabling this feature all was ok

Third problem was when windows was loaded (XP sp2) - I was starting to get random blue screens whenever any data larger than 1 gb will be copied to or from HD.

This error was caused by me stupidly connecting DVD with middle connector on the IDE cable

Other errors where more difficult to trace and caused one sleepless night:
memory_management 0x0000001a ; memory_management 0x000000d1 and 0x0000007f
As it appears OCZ has set SPD to default as 5-5-5- 15 with 1.84 V !

Changing memory timings and voltage to 2.12 fixed this issue.
